The patented mechanism is constructed with a featherweight plastic for flexibility, durability and longevity. Each mechanism includes four interlocking segments we refer to as the “male” and “female” sides. The male side, featuring four grooved prongs, is placed under a section of hair close to the scalp. The female side is then folded over the section of hair and both sides lock together creating a secure hold on the hair.
